When we start discussing winter
fashion trends, most of us are interested in fur. Among main winter
2007/2008 trends the lion’s share of models is connected with this or that interesting usage of fur. However, designers also offer us other very interesting novelties.
Womanspassions offers you a fashion review to help each of us meeting winter in a fitting manner.
1. Color fur
By the highest standards, there’s nothing new here. Color fur appeared on catwalks a couple of seasons ago. This winter’s peculiarity is a choice of several priority tones - blue, red, yellow, fuchsia. Designers offer fur of these colors firstly for short-cut volumetric fur-coats, jackets or fluffy boas.
2. Fur trimming
Surely, fur trimming on sleeves, collar, pockets, shoulder straps, yoke - is a quite popular thing, existing since time immemorial, when humankind learned weaving and warming clothes using fur. This winter trend is creation of fur sleeves for coats, jackets, and even dresses, and also sequel of last winter trend: creation of fur skirts.
3. Glamorous sleeveless jackets
Man’s waistcoat has become an everyday part of business dress-code for many women long ago. And cozy, comfortable and warm knitted sleeveless jackets have become a part of home garments long ago already. But today designers added rather glamorous variants of expensive and even luxurious materials, with fluffy fur trimming and golden embroidery, to these two popular kinds of sleeveless jackets. They can be very long, with deep décolleté and, if they are put right on underwear, then they should be definitely combined with long gloves.
4. Hoods
If leading fashion houses made hoods a part of sportswear in their summer collections, in winter collections, otherwise, retro-trends can be seen clearly. These are big, volumetric, so-called old-world hoods from elegant coats of medieval ladies or funny fur hoods of ruddy-faced grammar-school girls.
5. Belt on coat or fur-coat
Belts remain one of main accessories in autumn and winter. Designers pay special attention to them, choosing décor, materials, colors and skilful locks carefully. And still everything looks rather reservedly, respectable, without any excesses. Such belts accentuate figure wonderfully even on top of warm coats or volumetric fur-coats.
6. Experimental textures
Prada collection can be called really revolutionary here. They either took artificial materials, or combined artificial and natural materials in a surprising manner (for example, covered fleecy wool with latex). Stella McCartney supported this trend, she is a strong opponent to fur usage in general and has been trying to wean away exacting public from it for several years already.
7. Leather trousers
However, many designers also struggle against usage of natural leather. From time to time these moods win, and then leather things disappear from seasonal collections. But not for a long. And this season definitely includes such trend.
Today leather is represented in different styles and variants. There are traditional classic things like coats and jackets and many other experiments. For example, think black leather trousers, resembling medieval cloth, are a super hit. And, by the way, such experimental things balance somewhere between natural and artificial textures. You cannot guess whether it is leather or plastic at first sight.
8. Quilted things
There’s less pungency in quilted things, however, they have a certain novelty. You know, this is a clear echo of the 80ies fashion, which becomes an object of inspiration for designers not so often. And in vain. At least, quilted things are comfortable, cozy, practical. In combination with actual silhouettes they look just splendid this season.
9. Fuchsia color
On the background of rather boring sight of fading nature we always want some game of color, moreover, if gray color is considered the main tone for autumn-winter period. However, designers also offered an antidote for this spleen - invariable fuchsia. If in summer it can seem deliberate on the background of natural rage of colors, in winter it is rather appropriate. So, fuchsia is welcomed in any circumstances - in business cloth, evening toilets, fur jackets and accessories.
10. Degrade
Few people like smooth passages from one tone to another (sometimes, most unexpected - for example, green into orange and vice versa) in degrade technique. However, its true admirers can be pleased this winter. Degrade is used in most unexpected variants. These can be knitted long dresses-sweaters, leather jackets and two-piece garments, evening dresses, volumetric tulip skirts, even bags and shoes.
