Yet ANOTHER spin-off thread of the celebrity quotes theme: what celebs, then and now, said about other celebs. Can be positive, negative or whatever.
I’ll start off. Because I’m a WARREN BEATTY ADDICT I have most material on him (articles, books, tapes and what have ya), so I have most quotes by others on him, through the years:
“On a scale from 1 to 10, I’d give him 15.” Elizabeth Taylor on Beatty’s body.
“…..As Warren Beatty’s fingertips.” Woody Allen’s answer to the question how he would most
like to be reincarnated.
“He has this reputation with women, but I have never met anyone who blushes as much as Warren. He is so shy, the opposite of his public image. I just love the guy.”
“Warren’s the most beautiful man I’ve ever seen. He was pretty. He was beautiful and that’s a very appealing element in a human being.”
“Beatty, is one of my favorite people. He is very intelligent, very likable and very literate. I left getting married to quite late in life, and he left it to quite later. I once told him that if my son took as long as I did to marry and have a child, I wouldn’t become a grandfather until I was 89. Warren said he had me beaten–that in his case, he would be 109.”
David Frost
“Warren and I don’t like each other very much. I think he’s certainly a good actor. He was great in ‘McCabe.’ But I wouldn’t go through that again. It’s no fun. Warren will never do the first take. He has to be hands-on and doesn’t trust people. He’s very insecure and suspicious of everybody.”
Robert Altman
“Everybody claims they know Warren so well, but they don’t. He’s painfully shy.”
I think his greatest achievement is his fantastic wife and his four beautiful children, we talk often and I’m very fond of him, he is one of my oldest and dearest friends.”
Julie Christie
“Those guys are untouchable in a way that if you aspire to be like them, you will fail. I’ve never met Nicholson, I’ve met Warren Beatty, he’s like, cool. We’ve talked a couple of times and he gave me some advice. He’s like the cool older brother that everybody should have.”
“I saw him more as a reader. I saw him more shy. I think it might be — I don’t know — hard for him to give vent to these emotions. But boy, when he does, he really does. I mean, I thought he was so brilliant in ‘Bugsy’.“
