Too frequent
Cola drinking makes woman’s bones more fragile, researchers warn. Women, who are afraid of
osteoporosis, should reduce drinking this sort of soft drinks to zero.
2548 volunteers, including 1423 women and 1125men, took part in the research. Scientists measured their mineral bone density index of backbone and thigh-bone.
As a result, it was determined that women-participants of the research, who drank Cola daily (including dietetic), had much lesser indices of bone density comparing with their coevals, who drank this sort of soft drinks at most once per month.
This pattern was not found in men, and also women, who preferred other sorts of soft drinks.
“Received data are of big importance, as mineral bone density is directly connected with risk of fractures, and
Cola is a very popular sort of soft drinks”, - scientists note.
During previous research they found connection between heightened frequency of fractions and frequent drinking of soft drinks among girls-teenagers, however, data received at that time didn’t exclude the fact that this regularity was connected with lowered consumption of dairy produce, not with direct negative influence of aerated water.
During a new research it was found that passion for Cola has no influence on consumption of dairy produce, rich in calcium, useful for bones. According to authors of the research, worse condition of bones, connected with frequent Cola drinking, is most likely explained by high content of phosphoric acid in Cola.
This substance makes assimilation of calcium more difficult and at the same time increases speed of leading of this important mineral out from organism.
“There are no proofs, saying that occasional Cola drinking can be harmful for bones, - scientists note, - However, women, who are afraid of bone loss, should refuse from Cola’s excessive use, at least until new data refute found effect of this sort of drinks”.
