“Split your sides with laughter more often” - everybody, who sticks to cheap diets, should listen to this advice
It turns out, that laughter produces energy, and can help you to lose weight. Is it funny? Great: 10-15 minutes of laugh per day will burn from 10 to 15 calories.
In general, this cheap diet is not funny at all. Two thousands of delegates from 80 countries, which took part in 4-day European congress, dedicated to a problem of obesity, and finished its work in Athens, listened to a report on use of laughter.
Author of this cheap diets report supposes that his colleagues and he became the first ones, who decided to investigate how much energy we need to laugh. “We discovered that laugh produces energy”, - a scientists stated.
Well, according to him, 10-15 minutes of real laughter per day can burn quantity of calories, equivalent to a middle-sized chocolate bar. To discover this fact, scientists had to carry out an experiment with cheap diets volunteers.
Researchers invited about 100 volunteers - 45 couples of friends. Young people were closed in a room, resembling a cheap hotel room.
In fact - this was a so-called metabolic chamber. It determines how much oxygen one inhales, and how much carbonic acid he breathes out - this way scientists measure energetic consumption.
Besides, scientists used equipment, detecting heart rhythm, and recorded all sounds in a room.
Cheap diets volunteers were asked to sit down in arm-chairs in front of TV sets, movements and talking were prohibited, so that they would not waste energy. Then they were misled - they were told that the purpose of the research was investigation of emotional reactions to different video materials.
“It’s not so easy to catch a real laughter, - scientists explain. - You know, if you tell people you are going to measure their laughter, they will laugh. And artificial laughter is regulated by absolutely different part of brain. We wanted laughter to be real”.
First of all, we needed to know indices of metabolism - metabolic norm of students, staying in relaxed state. Scientists showed them English countryside: “Firstly we needed to show them something boring for 30 minutes, so we chose English scenery”, - doctors told.
Following cheap diets phase for each group of volunteers lasted more than hour. They saw a 10-minute abstract of comedy on TV, then - 5 minutes of sheep, wandering sadly, then another 10 minutes of comedy and so on.
Researchers tested 7 couples of friends of male sex, 17 couples of girls and 21 mixed couple separately (they wanted to reveal differences).
In the end, they collected data about heart rhythm, recorded laughter and information about breathing in a laboratory and analyzed them carefully.
Cheap diets: lose weight through laugh. It turned out that young men laughed more, than girls. The longest laughter lasted 40 seconds. And scientists saw that, when people are laughing, approximately 20% increase of metabolic norm takes place.
“While laughing, students burnt 20% more calories, - scientists informed. - Then we tried to calculate what would happen, if someone would be laughing during 10 or 15 minutes per day, and found out, that they would burn up to 50 calories, depending on body size and intensity of laughing. According to our calculations, for a year laughter can help one lose up to 2 kilograms, if he/she makes merry every day”.
Note, you should necessarily shout with laughter. Otherwise, this won’t work. However, it’s still incomprehensible, who or what can provoke a daily 15-minute schance of laughter.
