How to get married like a celebrity

THRONES a la Posh, pumpkin carriage like Jordan’s … every bride wants a big day to remember
THRONES a la Posh, pumpkin carriage like Jordan’s … every bride wants a big day to remember. But what if the call from OK! never comes and you’re left with, gulp, a budget?
Don’t panic, Sarah Haywood, author of Chantelle’s fave book The Wedding Bible, reckons you can still get married in star style.
According to Sarah it’s all about facade, she says: “Look closely at the lavish weddings in glossy mags and you’ll see that most of the photos have been taken in just one or two locations, with different props added and shot from different angles.”
Make your wedding snaps celeb-worthy with Sarah’s top tips for faking the glitz.
A GROOM WITH A VIEW
Find the best backdrop at your wedding venue and dress it with flowers and candles for your formal photos.
It could be at the foot of a staircase, before a magnificent fireplace or in a garden.
Have a couple of spectacular flower arrangements flank the photos (you can move and re-use the ones from the ceremony).
Keep a couple of chairs handy so you can change the poses.
THE FIRST CUT IS THE CHEAPEST
Another favourite celeb wedding shot is the cutting of the cake.
If you’re on a tight budget hire a spectacular fake cake - only the cutting layer need be real.
Your guests will never know because the fake cake is removed to the kitchen for plating where a large square version waits to be served in its place.
PETAL POWER
For that real showbiz effect, add a blast of confetti from a confetti gun as you cut the cake.
You can hire one from a party shop or buy smaller versions online and ask the children present to all fire them together as you lower the knife.
Feed each other small mouthfuls of cake and feel like a film star as the flashbulbs ricochet around the room.
BUBBLE AND CHIC
The first dance is another Hollywood moment. Learn a few steps with your intended so you look like you know what you’re doing on the day.
For the ultimate celebrity fake-up, add a bubble machine (again, hire one or use cheaper hand-held versions) and gaze into your new spouse’s eyes as you are encased in the bubbles of love.
You may feel cheesier than a Pete and Jordan duet, but it will look perfect in the photos!
THE GETAWAY
Don’t be the last to leave - allow your guests a fantastic last image of you and capture it on camera.
Toss your bouquet from a great height or leave in a vintage sports car waving through the rear window as you speed off on honeymoon.
In dry weather, ask your guests to line a path for you to run down as they hold sparklers - cheap but a winner in photos.
