Experts from Stanford Medical University have been spending a supervision over 166 women in pregnancy within 4 years. Doctors managed to establish the main reason of premature birth.

It is established that more often early childbirth is caused by presence of not diagnosed before infections in amniotic fluid.

Statistics shows that this sort of bacteria and fungi meet at 25 % of pregnant women and raise risk of premature birth on 80 %.

«If we are able to distinguish an infection at the first stage of pregnancy, it is possible to prevent undesirable consequences», - a head of research explained.

A problem of premature birth disturbs scientists more and more. More than 12 % of children are born before 37 weeks of pregnancy and every year this percent grows. Premature babies suffer from cerebral paralysis and respiratory system problems more often.
