Even the most expensive fur jackets will resemble a ragged cat under influence of excess moisture (in the form of rain or heavy sticky frog), sheepskin changes color and becomes heavier, and wool and tweed coats get wet through, freezing through on an icy wind at the same time.
“Puff” jackets and coats may become a good way out for many people. Such jackets and coats are in fashion this season and represent an echo of the eighties trends. However, there’re few admirers of sporty style today, especially if you take into account a general trend to elegant feminity in modern fashion.
So, we have quite simple choice - leather cloth. We cannot say that such things are the last word in fashion, are included into TOP 10 or are offered in the form of absolutely vanguard models of unusual silhouettes. However, it’s also clear, that leather things belong that female clothes, which are certainly present in each season (say, together with denim).
Many factors speak well of leather cloth. Modern technologies allow making this material very light, thin, plastic; it can be colored in any color; any d?©cor can be used in such things - from rather coarse metallic rivets to the most delicate lacy perforation. Moreover, leather almost doesn’t get wet (especially after impregnation with various water-repellent and other substances), can be put on any lining, and is also used by designers while creating any clothes - from erotic corsets to coats. In general, this is almost an ideal choice for off-season.
Leather cloth color spectrum, offered by designers is interesting. Regardless of the fact that black color has become a king of the season, in general, leather is colored in other tones. It’s clear, that cloth of black leather is more traditional and usual for us; moreover, this is very sensual and causes lots of various associations.
 
No, black can also be found (collections from Cavalli, Krizia, Louis Vuitton, Paul Smith). But nevertheless, other trends prevail among this season leading designers offers - delicate fuchsia from Lagerfeld, dark-blue from Prada and John Galliano, all tints of brown from Hermes, winy from D&G and Dior, grass-green from Calvin Klein. And this is quite explainable in the period, when nature is marked by tiresome color monotony all around.
Another moment, which you should pay your attention to, - is a combination with fur. This may be fur lining, a big fur collar, fur boa or scarf, tied of any fur lags; just fur trimming or decoration (on flaps, lapels, pockets, cuffs). This will present you necessary warmth and comfort in bad weather, and general area of fur items is not too big to create a sloppy look, even in case when you turn out to be under off-season rain. By the way, leather is best combined with sheepskin - both in functionality and style.
 
Even under superficial learning of world catwalks, another fact becomes clear - today you should choose leather jumpers and jackets, and coats and mackintoshes are offered less. Coast and mackintoshes are generally made of tweed and ratine wool.
As for leather jackets, here we can see a surprising variety of them. These are different variations of bomber-jacket. D&G makes them very short, of unusual (brightest) tints, with exotic fur trimmings or just fur, colored in most incredible colors. Gianfranco Ferre shows a traditional bomber-jacket, but it has more feminine silhouette, big collar and fur lining. Bomber from Paco Rabanne is made of expensive exotic kinds of leather and decorated with turn-down fur collar or fur boa.
 
 
Another sort of jackets, actual for this off-season, are elongated (on 2-3 palms above knees or till thighs line center) silhouettes - straight or slightly bell-bottomed down. They are marked with wide sleeves, understated arm-holes, plated pockets, dissymmetric zippers, turn-down yokes. Moreover, such jackets are good with hoods.
 
 
If you still prefer leather coats, then you should choose such a “silhouette of the sixties” - rather tight top and wide volumetric bottom, while its length is appreciably lower knee level. Don’t strive to look like Gestapo officers. Such non-sexual rough shapes are not good for this season. More feminity and elegancy - this is still the main slogan of the season.
